Sears is to the United States what Manufrance was to France.
Following the same principle, a significant portion of what Sears sold was manufactured by other brands. The name "Tower" frequently appears in product names. This can be explained by comparing the brand's logo and historical photos of the company. The logo depicts the tower that dominated the Sears buildings in Chicago. In 1969, Sears decided to consolidate all its Chicago employees in a single building and had the tallest skyscraper in the United States (and the world at the time) constructed, known as the Sears Tower, which has since been renamed the Willis Tower.

Sears, Robuck and Co was and still is comparable with the French firm Manufrance. For many years this distributor's catalogues could be found at the heart of many American homes sitting on a shelf between the Bible and the telephone directory.
As well as the general catalogues, there were also numerous specialist catalogues. The camera catalogues are of course particularly useful in identifying Tower-branded models. Tower was a brand-name for a wide variety of cameras produced by many different manufactureres from all over world.
This Tower 51 is an Iloca Quick B from 1953, a small, basic rangefinder.
A notable feature is that part of the instructions are printed on the base of the camera (as can be seen in the page scanned from the catalogue).
